Back in 2008, I got my own computer. At first, I was excited about exploring the web. But then, I got bored of the exploring and only used the computer to look up phone numbers, check store hours, play a few online games and see what was happening on my social pages. Other than that, I rarely touched the computer.

But then I found out that my son had health issues that would require that I give him most of my attention. I had to give up the day job to care for my son, which I did. My kids are my #1 priority and I’ll do what I have to do. But giving up the day job gave me some financial problems.

I Needed Extra Money

I still had money to cover the bills, groceries, and necessities for the household but I was barely making it. If I went back to work, I couldn’t care for my son like I needed to. At that time, it was just me and the kids. My granny helped me out a lot but there was only so much she could do and I didn’t want to burden her with my problems.

So I thought long and hard about what I could do to help make ends meet. Then I chose to put my computer to good use. I got online and did a bunch of research. What could I do to make an extra $100 or $200 a month without investing any of my own money? I didn’t want to spend money to make money. I just wanted to make money.

Research, Research, Success

I kept researching and finally decided to try out a site called Cashcrate. Cashcrate is a GPT website where members can join for free and complete offers, take surveys, and do various other tasks for money. I saw that other people were getting paid and thought I’d give it a try.

I ended up making $149 the first month with that site. I couldn’t believe it until the check arrived in the mail and I cashed it. That’s all it took to convince me that money can be made online. After that, I joined other GPT sites and branched out to survey sites.

Before I knew it, I had checks coming in from different companies. They weren’t big checks ($20-$140 avg.) but the money added up. I was able to start buying more things we needed and even got some free stuff in the process.

It’s Not all Fun and Games

But it wasn’t as easy or as fun as I thought. I had to do tons of research. I read reviews, checked out discussion forums, and visited a countless number of websites gathering information that would help me achieve my goal. I had to be confident that I wasn’t going to be scammed or waste my time.

And after that, I had to actually make the sites that I found to be legit work for me. I had to consistently fill out offers and take a number of surveys while implementing the tips and advice I learned from the survey sites and other research. But I was willing to do what I had to because I wanted to earn extra money, and participating on GPT and survey sites allowed me to do just that.

Fast Forward: Yep, I Still Make Money

Fast forward to now, and my son is healthy and I’m still making money online. I don’t work GPT and survey sites like I did when I first started, since I now blog and work on other projects, but I still do it from time to time since the money and gift cards do come in handy.

Yes to Free Stuff

Last year, I got both of my kid’s birthday presents and half of my kid’s Christmas for free by taking surveys for gift cards and using those free gift cards to buy their toys. This year, I’ve enjoyed 9 months of Xbox Live Gold for free thanks to taking surveys. I’ve paid for groceries using Wal-Mart gift cards I earned from taking surveys. And the extra cash I earn has always helped out. So, what can you take away from my story?

I’m a real person just like you, and at one time, I too was looking for a way to make extra money online.

I wouldn’t call myself the queen of paid surveys but I’ve been there. I’ve done a bunch of research. I’ve signed up to many survey websites. I’ve spent countless hours taking surveys. And I’ve actually made money. See some of my personal survey payments below:

You won’t see me posting big fat checks because this opportunity doesn’t allow me to make that kind of money. And the same will be true for you. You won’t get rich taking surveys but you can make some money.

This does work. You just have to take time to make it work for you. I have laid out all of my research, experiences, and knowledge on this website so that you can easily get started on the right path and avoid the headaches, scams, and hype.
